    Story

Thomas, an absolutely adorable little boy is a cherished friend to my daughter, Maia. In his seven years, he has spent more time in hospital and endured more tests than most of us will in our lifetime.

When Thomas was born, his parents were overjoyed by their perfect little boy but by the age of two, Thomas had had pneumonia and numerous chest infections resulting in tests which sadly confirmed that Thomas has no immune system; this makes him prone to infections which could have devastating consequences. Thomas began his weekly immunoglobulin injections to help him to fight infection; this hour-long treatment will continue for the rest of Thomas' life. The family were also dealt the blow of discovering that their younger son, Jack, also has no immune system and has to be treated too.

Two years ago, Thomas' teacher noticed that he was struggling to concentrate; this also coincided with him becoming unstable when walking. Thomas' condition worsened and, even after rigorous testing, doctors are unable to identify the cause of his condition.

Thomas currently spends much of his time in a wheelchair and is dependent on support to assist him in everyday tasks; he is growing quickly and becoming increasingly heavy for his mum to lift. Thomas' family are currently in the planning stages of adapting their home to provide Thomas with a ground floor bedroom allowing him to become more independent.

Thomas has the brightest eyes, the warmest smile and the most infectious laugh you could hear! He truly deserves every bit of happiness. I hope to raise as much as I can towards simple adjustments to make life more comfortable for Thomas - eg a bath hoist, ramps and wider door frames so that he can manoeuvre his wheelchair in his own home.

Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart for any donations you are able to make. Running a marathon is nothing compared to the ordeals Thomas and his family have endured. Please join me in helping this lovely family.

Hello all! Back home and nursing my poorly toe...😉You have continued to show amazing support and encouragement and we are now almost at £4000! There are a few people who expressed that they'd like to donate so here's a reminder! Thomas wore his Lanzarote marathon band today whilst he treated us to a few Christmas carols with his teacher. ❤️It's been my absolute pleasure to do a little to help this little star. The marathon was tough but I met friends for life and got my sub-4 - all thanks to Thomas. Thank you little man! Big hugs. Xxx

Well, I did it!! Seriously, the hardest race I've ever done - the second half being boiling hot, against the wind and on exhausted legs! Genuinely, I couldn't have made the sub-4 without some serious words with myself (much to the surprise of the crowds)!! But even when I knew that if I didn't get moving I wouldn't make sub-4, my legs wouldn't allow it - until I thought of Thomas and, from nowhere, I managed to pull an 8min 30 second mile out of the bag for the final mile. So, Thankyou Thomas! 😘Xx
