Story

Maisie Mae Yates 29/12/2023-29/06/2024
Maisie (Moo) was a force to be reckoned with, a fighter who proved so many people wrong. She is a beautiful little lady with a strength to be admired.
Ellie and Kai fell pregnant with beautiful twin girls last year. At 15 weeks pregnant they were told that Maisie had a condition called congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Ellie's pregnancy was closely monitored as Maisie's lung growth was restricted and other organs pushed up into them, she was also incredibly small!
Charlotte and Maisie were delivered at 34 weeks and Charlotte was more than double Maisie's weight. Maisie was taken to NICU and intubated. She did incredibly well despite her size! Charlotte & Ellie stayed on the ward.
At 12 days old Maisie had surgery on her hernia and Ellie, Kai and Charlotte stayed in the close by Ronald McDonald house. Her surgery went well & she was an absolute little trooper.
Over the next few months Maisie slowly improved. Her breathing support was weaned, but she struggled so was put back on to CPAP.
Unfortunately Maisie then became unwell. She was moved to PICU and needed full breathing support. It took 5 attempts to get Maisie off the ventilator. Maisie again showed us her true strength. She improved and needed less breathing support.
On June 29th Maisie was baptised and with her family by her side she joined the angels above. Her journey on earth was a rollercoaster, so very loved and cared for by her mummy and daddy and twin sister, she fought every single day of her life and will be missed by so many.
She fought so hard to be here, but is now free from any pain and suffering. No more heel pricks, wires, tubes, oxygen, around the clock medication, etc. Free like a butterfly.
We have set this up to help alleviate some of the financial worries for the family. Although a basic child's funeral is free, Maisie deserves the best send off, and we want to support the family whilst they navigate the overwhelmingly hard loss of their sweet Maisie
