Story
Forton Village Hall is a charming historic community building nestled in a beautiful conservation area in Staffordshire close to the hamlets of Forton, Meretown, and Sutton.
Originally built in 1843 by the Aqualate Estate as a school, it’s educational usage continued when it closed by hosting a nursery for local children. In addition it has been used for local events, as a Polling Station and as a venue for Parish Council meetings.
In 2025, Forton Village Hall will be welcoming an outstanding local nursery, who have been given notice from their current venue leaving their pupils with nowhere to go.
In preparation for this new venture generous funding has been secured to make much needed repairs and bring the hall up-to-date while keeping and restoring many original features.
During this repair work a number of previously unseen major issues have been uncovered, including unsafe chimney stacks, damaged flooring and the need to replace many of the roofing timbers due to rot and woodworm.
These issues have to be addressed before the hall can be used and the funding is now insufficient to cover these urgent and expensive repairs.
The management committee and trustees of this charitable trust building desperately need donations to cover these additional, essential costs and to provide a wonderful and fit-for-purpose setting for the nursery pupils to continue their development and prepare them for their future.
