Story
After a successful first year, we are continuing and extending this project to cover more noble causes. The second phase named (GIVE) will build upon the achivement realised so far.
The G.I.V.E (Gaza Initiative for Food and Water) phase reflects our strong belief that giving is not just a simple action of offering food and water for the learners and their families, but also to nourish hope, dignity, and a breath of life for the people of Gaza in general. In a context where basic needs are no longer met, our action aims to:
1/ Distribute drinking water to families in refugee camps and isolated and destroyed areas.
2/ Distribute ready made bread and essential food (rice, flour, legumes, canned goods) to fight hunger and famine.
Our teams on the ground along with trusted and reliable partners have been working hard in daily basis to prepare meals (Tekkya, sandwiches, etc.), repairing wells and distributing clean water (Sokkya), for a long period of time. The food distribution will benefit kids in nurseries and primary schools, medical staff in emergency services, civil protection personnel, first aid workers, students and engineers in our FREE learning hubs .
We believe that by joining forces and working together we can alleviate the suffering of a portion of the Gazan population and respond to the humanitarian emergency while empowering them to rebuild their future.
G.I.V.E: Because in Gaza, every gesture counts, every drop of water saves and every meal restores hope.
First Phase (Continuing)
Following the ongoing war in Gaza since last October, all universities in Gaza have been destroyed and students deprived from their right to continue studying like their peers around the world.
This initiative is led by Dr Imed Romdhani (Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland) in collaboration with international NGOs and local charity (Scot Aid). It aims to provide an unlimited online courses access with verified and credit eligible courses, professional certificates, MicroBachelors and MicroMasters in all disciplines from the best universities in the world.
90 dollars are at least needed to provide an unlimited annual membership licence to each learner (student or academic member of staff), without including the cost of the internet connection, the IT equipment and other safety measures required in the context of ongoing and unacceptable war. There are over 80000 students who need our help to complete the lost academic year and gain verified and credit eligible courses to progress in their study, help some of them to apply for studentships abroad or gain scientific and academic knowledge that is no longer available in Gaza.
We intend and we highly committed to provide at least 3 months access for each enrolled student and academic staff from Gaza.
Spending of the collected fund and all outcomes will be shared in a transparent manner with all involved actors and donors. The donation is regulated by the code of conduct and rules for charity work in the UK and Scotland in particular.
Please note that this initiative is not sponsored or endorsed by edX, 2U, nor any edX or 2U partner institution.
