Story
Hi. We are really hoping that you can help. My lovely friend Natalie was visiting the RSPCA to donate her previous rescue dogs' belongings when she met Caramel for the first time. She learnt that Caramel, a 3 legged staffie + her 6 puppies had been found by the RSPCA living in squalid conditions, without food or water and living in their own filth. Caramel was in a particularly sorry state with her spine and ribs clearly showing and with only 3 legs. Despite the tough life she had clearly been living she was the most friendly dog and won the hearts of Natalie and her family immediately. For the last 9 mths she has been living the life that she deserved surrounded by loads of love and fun and she is the friendliest dog that you could wish to meet. She greets everyone with such enthusiasm, a huge lick and a wag of her tail. She has such a zest for life and does not let her missing leg stop her from doing anything. She is a very bright dog and displays no behavioural problems that you might expect and loves her life with the Green family where she is fondly known as Wonky. Unfortunately in Dec 2016, she started limping and was obviously in a lot of pain in her back leg (same side as the missing leg). Following a visit to the vets she was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament but also she has a fractured kneecap in the other back leg (from an old untreated injury), hip dysplasia in both hips and arthritis in her hips and knees. No one who has met Caramel wants to give up on her even though she is going to have a tough road ahead - she has so many friends both canine and human and so we are hoping that you may be able to help. The vet insurance will cover some of the fees but will not cover all the work that she will need to keep her walking. She is having her first operation today with a 10 week recovery period and the other legs will then be treated. There are other associated costs also not covered by the insurance - primarily the rehab/Physio. Thank You!
