Story
Friends of HCC, as a club we continue to challenge ourselves to ‘Be the best for our community’ & winter time can be a stark reminder for many families that there simply isn’t enough money to finance heating, food & clothes. During our summer charity campaign for Rumblin’ Tums, we received positive feedback from many members that this charity was an appropriate and worthwhile venture for us to continue supporting. Free schools meals, within our community, are above the national average and many families less than a mile from our club cannot afford to feed their children without charitable help. Rumblin’ Tums was set up by a local lady to help local disadvantaged families by working with schools to reach the students most in need. Approaching Christmas, the charity are focused on helping primary aged children receive a present from Father Christmas.
The Management Board of Harrogate CC are delighted to support this project and Rumblin’ Tums generally. The community work of the cricket club is absolutely vital. It is essential that the club plays a wider role in the local community. As a club we should be doing everything we can to help those disadvantaged families and children whose needs are greater than ours. This is a really worthwhile local charity and we hope members, friends and supporters will support this Christmas appeal.
The Management Board stress that the charitable and community work of the club is also essential to demonstrate to investors, sponsors and other funding sources that Harrogate Cricket Club is committed to the wider community. To be able to raise significant funds in the future (for example, for development of indoor facilities) we have to be playing an active and positive role in our local community. Our latest work with Rumblin Tums is hopefully the start of much more community and charitable work to come.
If you wish to contribute towards Rumblin’ Tums buying the childrens’ gifts, we are collecting monetary donations via our Friends of Harrogate Cricket Club Just Giving page. Rumblin’ Tums will use these donations to purchase toys from a local toy shop, ensuring that our contributions go back into our local economy. The charity are allocating a £15 present per child and have up to 150 children that are in need. We very much appreciate any amount you may be able to contribute.
Warmest wishes,
Kalpna & Jules (Friends of HCC)
