Weʼve raised £200 to repair the wildlife pond on The Hook nature reserve.

Funded on Friday, 2nd December 2016

    Story

The wildlife pond on The Hook has sprung a leak and is no longer holding water. We think it is due to a self-sown reed whose roots have speared the liner.
We need to get the pond stripped back and re-lined. The total cost will be £2500. We've raised £1000 so far. If we can get the work done over the winter, the wildlife will be back in time for family and school activities next spring.
Help us restore the pond for wildlife and so the community can enjoy nature on our doorstep.
We're planning pond dipping, bird watching and wildflower identification activities. Come and join us!

Thank you all for your very generous donations. The money raised from Just Giving, as well as other donations, grants and fund raising events such as bric-a-brac stalls and concerts means we have reached our target. Work started on Monday 5th December repairing the pond. With extra liner we've been given , we will be able to improve the pond with an additional boggy area which will increase water catchment and add a varied habitat.

Many thanks to those who have donated so far. Great news! We've had a donation of £350 from County Councillor Liz Plant towards the repair of the pond. Thanks Liz, it's a great help. We want to get the work done as soon as possible so the pond is back in action by the spring.
