Story

Beginning 1st September 2024, I will be running 5k a day for 30 days for Gemma's 30th birthday to raise funds for her physical rehabilitation at STEPS in Sheffield.

The money raised from this challenge will join the impressive £60,000+ that has been raised via the Gemma Potts Community. The ultimate goal is to fund 12 weeks at STEPS, which will cost in the region of £114,000. With your support and generosity, Gemma has a real chance of reaching this goal. Every donation is greatly appreciated and will provide Gemma the opportunity to improve her mental and physical health, and gives her the possibility to regain movement.

For those who may not be aware, in June 2021, my cousin, Gemma, suffered a life altering spinal injury at an equestrian event. Gemma’s life would never be the same again. Gemma was rushed to James Cook University Hospital where she underwent major spinal surgery. The news that Gemma was tetraplegic as a result of her injury was utterly devastating. Despite this, Gemma continues to fight, remain positive, and is determined to overcome the challenges of her injury.

In the last three years, our family have come to the sad and shocking realisation of how little is provided to help people with life changing injuries. It’s heartbreaking to know how much money it takes to give those in Gemma’s position quality of life and hope for the future.

Thank you for any support you are able to offer.
