Story

Who is Colin?

Colin is a popular Big Issue vendor, known to people on First Street (HOME) and Oxford Road (the old Cornerhouse building, now Man Met)

He has regulars who buy the magazine from him and chat on a daily basis. He helps tourists and newcomers with directions and has sold copies more copies of the mag than Andy Burnham.

He loves going to Blackpool and he used to live there. It is his place to escape to, and he loves the smell of the sea air. The cost of living crisis means he cannot afford to get the train and pay for a hotel. His bills have shot up and some weeks, he gets down. Colin grew up in care and this annual weekend break leaves him buzzing for months.

Can we get him to Blackpool for a weekend break for the 3rd year in a row?

For the last two years, the fantastic Manchester community has paid for him to go by chipping in together. I am hopeful, that we can do it again. Please do not feel compelled to donate if you are facing hard times, a share is more than enough. So please share this story on your social network.

We have raised £100 already!

A huge thanks to the wonderful charity 500 Acts of Kindness who have kicked this off with a really kind donation of £100. Chris and Julie, you are superstars!

Anything above £200 will go to....

We will donate anything above £200 to 500 Acts of Kindness and some extra spends for Colin.

Our original target was £200 and this will get Colin away to his favourite place in April. Anything above that will go to 500 Acts of Kindness and extra spends for Colin.

500 Acts of Kindness support people like Colin. you can read more about their incredible work here.
