Story
When Glen passed his driving theory and practical tests, he was over the moon. He had always wanted to drive, loved being behind the wheel of a car and it always made him feel great.
When he was down he would go for a drive to cheer himself up. He would drive friends and family around and help people out with lifts and not ask for anything in return.
Over the past year, he has had nothing but problems. First the problem was getting insurance he could afford. With that sorted out, he looked for cars and found one that he loved. He purchased it with 3 years worth of benefits savings, it turned out to be almost a death trap! The seller swapped it with another, after a great deal of argument only for that to go wrong too.
This time the seller wouldn't help and wouldn't accept any kind of responsibility. So step up help from another. He took the old car and gave Glen another one, promising to ensure the car would get through the upcoming MOT. Well, at MOT time, the car failed with lots of rust on the sills so much that they would have to be replaced, not repaired. When approached, the "kind" person wanted a lot of money to repair the car, even though he said he would get it through it's MOT. Not only that, a friend of Glen's, who looked at the car, said that it should have failed its MOT the previous year as the amount of rust would have been prohibitive at that point.
Again Glen has no car, and no one to help him get it sorted out. He doesn't want much, just some transport to get him out and about.
Having a car is a life line to Glen. It helps him relax, gets him out of the house when he feels down, helps to cheer him up even when he just knows he can get out and drive if he wants to. It is also a means to a job that he desperately wants and needs..
Please help Glen by giving anything you can to help him get mobile again. £500 will either fix the current car or buy another. He doesn't want much, just what most of us take for granted.
