    Story

Following the devastating and sudden passing of Grace Kagwiria early this week, we are planning to raise money towards the building of a new secondary School in the Meserani District of Tanzania - we truly believe this will be a fitting tribute to Grace and will help to ensure that her memory lives on in the hearts and minds of many. Any money raised will contribute towards the first fully equipped classroom, which will be dedicated to Grace.

For everyone who knew or met Grace we are sure you will all agree that she was one of the most if not the most selfless, passionate, warm hearted, crazy haired individual to walk this earth. She was full of love, compassion, strength and had an infectious zest for life. It was clear to see her devotion to young people through her passion and commitment to ensuring that young people had access to education. Over the past 11 years Grace has worked closely with The Meserani Project providing invaluable links, support and guidance to ensure that young people have the opportunity to access education. The Meserani Project has been a fundamental feature of her company Kupenda Africa for many years – indeed, Grace constantly reminded us that her company was set up as a result of the needs of The Meserani Project.

Throughout her journey she has worked tirelessly for others without asking for anything in return, including dedicating her time and efforts at Langata Women’s Prison where she engaged with the women there as a friend, supporter and motivator.

Grace was a one in a million person, who touched and inspired so many people. She has left a hole that can never be filled.

Grace deserves this tribute for all that she gave to the children of Africa and the visitors she inspired. May the classroom in her memory inspire others to live a life of giving.
