Story

In March 2020, Tyler, now aged 10 and Eryn, now aged 7, were diagnosed with one of the rarest degenerative neurological disorders on record, Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Type 5a. At the time there were only 22 people worldwide and 5 people in the UK with the same thing. Now, as science and genetic testing evolves there are 65 people worldwide, but still only 5 in the UK, two of whom are Tyler and Eryn. They are still the youngest to have been diagnosed with 5a and as such very little comparison can be made with their symptoms. What we do know Is that their mobility is greatly affected and that they will eventually succumb to using a wheelchair to get around.
Watch manager Paul and his colleagues are undertaking a MASSIVE task of physical and mental endurance where they will be walking in FULL fire gear, from Bristol Children's Hospital, where Tyler already spends a fair amount of time undergoing surgeries and tests, all the way to Crownhill Fire Station in Plymouth where the crew form Green Watch.
Funds raised from this EPIC journey will be split equally between Tyler and Eryns Just 4 Children charity campaign, where it will be used to fund adaptations to the home and for alternative therapies not provided by the NHS, and The Fire Fighters Charity, who have helped the family greatly with mental health and time out to rest and recharge.

The Fire Fighters Charity is there for every member of the UK’s fire service community, helping them all to live healthier and happier throughout their lives.
And it’s not just about firefighters. The Charity supports past and present fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role, as well as spouses, families and many other eligible individuals across a diverse community of around 300,000 people.
We do hope that you are able to help the team in their fundraising quest and donate towards two very worthy charities.
