    Story

We are raising money for the Neonatal unit at Heartlands Hospital East Birmingham, where Billy Samuel spent his first 2 month in neonatal care and sadly where his little brother Harley Benjamin passed away after a six day battle.

We aim to raise as much funds as possible to assist in the purchase of vital specialist equipment to help the wonderful, caring hardworking nurses care for premature babies, who may have a variety of complications and with out the much needed care and attention of the neonatal team might not survive.

One in nine babies born in the UK will spend at least a few days in a neonatal unit which specialises in looking after preterm, small and sick babies, which are suffering from various medical conditions. The length of the babies stay can vary from a few days to months depending upon their needs.

Not only do the Neonatal nurses care for the babies they have a major role in supporting the parents at a time that can be very stressful and encourage parents to take an active role in the care of their babies.

For myself and my partner Sara, this has been a rollercoaster of a ride with lots of ups and downs and without the help of these fantastic people, we would not have been able to bring our son Billy Samuel home. We would like to raise the funds to thank the neonatal team for their support guidance and love during these difficult times and to remember our beautiful son Harley Benjamin.

In the upcoming months, years, we plan to undertake more fundraising activities and events to help the Heartlands Neonatal team as well to raise awareness of prematurity in babies.

On behalf of myself, Sara and our family, we would like to thank everyone for your support and kind donations whatever it may be.
