    Story

Heidi is one of only 77 Entlebucher Mountain Dogs in the UK. At the age of just 12 weeks old she was diagnosed with a condition called Ectopic Ureter, which makes her completely incontinent and at high risk of infection. Most female Entlebucher puppies suffering from this condition die while very young, but Heidi is a fighter with a determination to overcome her almost constant pain and problems. Even though she has had constant infection and four operations so far, she is doing her best to make the most of her life.
She is in the care of Entlebucher Club Rescue. With so few of the breed in the country, we are determined to do everything we can to give Heidi a happy and pain-free life. We’ve been trying to raise the money for her treatment, but the Entlebucher Club is very small, which makes it really hard. It’s a lovely breed, used for herding cattle and pulling a small milk cart in its native country of Switzerland. They have only been in the UK for the last fifteen years. As a working dog they are incredibly bright amazingly loyal and great around children.
Entlebucher Club members have already raised over £8,000 but they still need to raise £6,000 just to cover the costs of the treatment Heidi has had so far, quite apart from her current costs. Heidi may yet need an operation to fit her with state of the art artificial bladder control, which would give us even more to raise. It’s a long process, but we think that Heidi is worth it. She has a delightful personality and now at 10 months old is full of mischief.
