    Story

Meet Henry. Henry is a 16 month old bloodhound full of life and mischief as all pups (no matter how large or small) should be. However, without emergency spinal surgery Henry's future is grim and will, in the future, become partially paralysed and eventually become quadraplegic. Henry has been diagnosed with cervical spondylomyelopathy commonly known as 'wobblers' syndrome. This is a condition that causes the spinal cord to be compressed either by the spinal disks or from the malformation of the cervical vertebrae (normally the case in giant breeds). The cause is unknown, and whilst certain breeds are prone to this condition, any dog can be affected. Henry is not one of the listed breeds prone to Wobblers.

Following diagnosis, spinal surgery is recommended as soon as possible to relieve the pressure off the spinal cord before the nerves are permanently damaged. The spinal surgery is performed by specialist neuro vets and has a good success rate if caught early. With a slow and careful recovery Henry will be able to live a relatively normal life and enjoy all the things he should be doing now. Unfortunately this surgery is not cheap and can range between £3000 - £5000+. Please help us raise £2000 towards his treatment so that Henry can start to be a puppy again.
