- Milton Keynes, United Kingdom
- Funded on Tuesday, 11th July 2017
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
My daughter Kayleigh, and her children Tyler and Alyssa lost everything they own in a devastating house fire on Saturday 10th June. They all got out of the house safely, but are now homeless and waiting to see where they end up. Once they find a new home, they literally have nothing. I have bought them all some clothes and basics to get by, and some fabulous people are donating some clothes and toys, we are so grateful. They don't have beds, they have nothing. It hit me yesterday that my granddaughter didn't even have her favourite teddy to take to bed.
No, they weren't insured. As a recent single parent it was a bill too far so she didn't have it.
I feel strange asking for money, but a few people have asked if they can donate. It makes sense as I know she will need everything from carpets up when they get housed and whilst as a family we will rally round, it is a big task. I keep remembering things they have lost, things they have collected over the years and my heart breaks. Tyler is 6 years old and Alyssa is nearly 3. They don't really understand, but I hope we can make it better.
Thank you to anyone who donates, it is so appreciated.

6 years agoFinally, a day before the one year anniversary of the fire, Kayleigh has now been offered permanent housing. She won’t move in for another few weeks as the property isn’t quite ready, but it’s real and will be hers and the children’s new home. Everything raised here has helped her get through the year and will help when her house is ready. Thank you all again.

7 years agoThe children have now received all the toys and clothes that have been donated to them and have been able to sit and play with them in their bedrooms. People have been brilliant, utterly brilliant. I have now asked people to donate further books, toys and clothing to the London Blaze victims as they are very much in our thoughts at this time.
