Story

Hey there! My name is Kay, and I'm fundraising alongside my partner Bee on behalf of our cat Taako.

Taako and his sister came to us from a rescue. Found in a car park at a very young age amongst their siblings, they were soon taken in and eventually the litter were put up for adoption. The rest of the litter had been adopted already when we discovered the pair, whom we named Taako and Lup, were still available. They were nervous and hated being picked up, which alongside them being black cats, meant that no one had given them a home just yet. We knew we had the patience and the consideration to look after the two of them, being anxious and shy creatures ourselves, and two weeks ago we brought them home.
Now for the unfortunate part. On Saturday the 1st, Taako was admitted to the emergency vet for breathing issues. He has since had his chest drained of fluid the vets found there and is in the process of being tested for various illnesses
The mostly likely cause according to the vet, however, is FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitus.

This illness up until a few years ago was still fatal, but now can be treated and even cured. It is however, quite costly, and is unlikely to be covered by our insurance. For that reason, we are opening this fundraiser to help us cover the costs of his treatment. He has already had an overnight stay at the vet and been sedated, which is a cost we could little afford before learning about the treatment plan.

As of yet, we still don't know for sure what the illness effecting Taako is, but due to the deadly nature of the possible cause of FIP, and the weeklong test time to rule out other causes, we are looking to start treatment as soon as possible.

In the interest of transparency, we don't know the full cost of the treatment yet, and as I said we don't know the cause for sure, hence the high goal we're setting out to achieve. But any additional funds will be appreciated as they will pay for additional vet costs.
Thank you for reading!
