Weʼre raising £200,000 to Help Heidi Fight cancer and live to raise her boys

Nantwich, UK

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Heidi is a 45 year old non-smoking mother to two boys (aged 7 and 3), she is wife to Dave and a great friend to many. She's had varying careers from water engineer in Africa, swimming teacher and actor to project manager .

Last year Heidi was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Heidi is 'fighting to live', 'fighting to be there to raise her boys' and 'fighting to push conventional medicine into accepting that she has a right to hope, be positive and search for the 'holy grail of cancer cures.''

Heidi needs targeted therapy and immunotherapy drugs now to continue her fight. However, these are expensive (£5,000-£10,000 per month) and she can't get them through the NHS. So we need to act now to raise money for Heidi to continue her fight. We have a big target of £200,000 to make sure she can get all the treatment she needs.

Please help Heidi continue this journey of courage and allow her to raise her boys' by donating to 'Help Heidi Fight' #positivityincancer

As we keep trying to raise funds for Heidi, it is hard to keep asking people. Could you help by giving on a regular basis? Could you make a small change and donate monthly a small amount? Giving up a coffee a week, a magazine, or sharing a journey to save a bit and donate it every month, would mean the world to Heidi.

Could you help, for a few months? You can do this through Justgiving and stop it at any time. Just choose to donate monthly.

Half way through radiotherapy to nuke my lung tumour. Fairly grim treatment, though I start to feel better after 48 hours ready for the next onslaught :-). It will be worth it, I know. And tomorrow I get my brain re-scanned. Praying those naughty tumours are behaving themselves. Heidi xx

You may have seen an article in the Sun/Mail newspaper about me. I agreed to do this in conjunction with The Christie to advocate the use of advanced DNA profiling tests. The results of my test has meant I am still alive and fighting today. Prior to the test my prognosis was extremely poor, & only palliative chemotherapy was offered. Sadly, the article was not as we intended. Instead it went with cancer "cure" which I believe has detracted from the value of these tests. I remain hopeful they will become available to all cancer patients soon

[2of3] Unfortunately, late November my biggest fear came true, my lung tumour has started to grow again. I've had another biopsy and requested advanced DNA profiling again and wait to see whether the results return any new treatment options. The biopsy has caused a pneumothorax and has delayed radiotherapy to my lung, but I remain hopeful that a scan this coming Monday will see the issues resolved. If they haven't I will be pushing hard for a lobectomy which I've always felt would be my best option. I will keep you updated!
