Logan has Spina Bifida Mylengecoline which is a neural tube defect where the bones of the spine do not completely form, resulting in an incomplete spinal canal. When Logan was born his spinal cord and the tissues that cover the spinal cord protruded from out of his back. At only 24 hours old he had a 9 hour operation to close the opening in his spine.

Logan also has hydrocephalus which is a build up of fluid in the brain. This meant that at 2 weeks old he had to have another operation for a shunt fitting to drain away the excess fluid and relieve pressure on his brain.

Due to Logan’s Spina Bifida he has problem with his bowels and loss of skin sensation in his legs and he will probably never have the ability to walk.

This is the reason we are fundraising.......Logan has been referred for a wheelchair, but it has come to our attention that our little boy loves playing outside, he will be unable to do this as our garden is inaccessible to him, with it been purely grass.

We would like to change this through altering our garden so that he can play outside like a ‘normal’ child with his little brother. Unfortunately, this is a costly project and we have decided to try and fundraise to help make this happen.

Logan is a bright, bubbly, caring and happy child and charms anyone who meets him. We have raised him to believe that he can do anything he wants to do and no medical professional can stop him. If he wants to be a wheelchair rugby player he can be (I'll just close my eyes). Therefore, we don't want him to be defeated at our first hurdle....if he wants to play outside we want to help him do that.

We would be eternally grateful for any donations however big or small that could help our little boy gain more independence and be like every other child and play outside.

As well as this fundraising page we will also be doing a charity ball and Charlotte and a friend will be facing our fear of heights and doing a skydive!!
