Two years ago our daughter contracted E.coli 0157 which in itself has serious symptoms. This developed into HUS (haemolytic uremic syndrome), resulting in kidney failure and intensive dialysis for two weeks. Approximately two years later Mia also developed pancreatitis which was attributed to the HUS. She is currently under the care of two separate departments in Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) for these two separate ongoing issues. As well as these problems Mia has other medical issues which have so far baffled local pediatricians and unfortunately the two departments at LGI can only help on each specific issue. We have been referred yet again for the seventh time to local hospitals who so far have been unable to help and there is always a several month waiting list. Mia has just started primary school and is struggling to cope with full days regularly. The school have been amazingly supportive and flexible, but all Mia wants is to go everyday just like her friends. We have been advised by LGI to seek private medical care but unfortunately we do not have medical insurance (As they will not provide insurance with her current health issues) £200 will initially fund two private consultations with a specialist and hopefully give us a kick start which we will then continue to fund ourselves until we hopefully find a correct diagnosis.
