    Story

Today working families are finding it increasingly harder to own their own home. These families are living with family or privately renting on short term contracts where children are having to move from place to place disturbing their education.

I am currently in this situation and there are no charities to help working people who are homeless.

I am 29 years old, married with three children. I am a qualified A&E nurse and live with my parents however due to space all five of us have to sleep in one room. My daughter is now 11 years old and is going to still be homeless when she starts secondary school.

Years ago you did not need to be a skilled worker to get a mortgage, I hear cleaners at work talking about their mortgages and I think I have worked so hard to become a nurse and still this is not enough to get a mortgage in London.

The Government have brought out the Help to Buy Scheme however this does not help people who are on low incomes like me on a nurses wage because house prices are too high. The banks will not lend me enough money for me to be able to afford a house in London. Based on our wages they will lend us £178,000 when the average house prices in london are more than £300,000.

Families are also finding it hard to save for a deposit as by the time they have paid their rent they are left with just enough to live off. Landlords take advantage of the house shortages and vulnerable families pay the price.

My charity I want to help homeless families get onto the property ladder. My mother many years ago got a £16000 grant from a housing association to buy her first property a massive help. Us younger ones of today who want to make a life are being forgotten about.

PLEASE HELP THE HIDDEN HOMELESS FAMILIES!!!!!!

Being in this position myself I feel not enough is done to help working families own their own home giving their children the stability they need. There are many types of charities but none that offer grants for deposits, years ago housing associations gave these out.
