Story

My name is Tomasz Motyka, and I’m an independent documentary filmmaker based in Scotland. I'm reaching out to kind-hearted individuals to ask for financial support for Inna Kovalenko, whom I have been assisting for the past two years.

Unfortunately, due to changes in my personal financial situation brought on by professional and family challenges, I am no longer able to continue providing help to Inna. My professional website: Tom Motyka

Message from Inna:

Hello, my name is Inna, I am 27 years old and I have a wonderful daughter Daniel, who is 3 years old. I am a single mother and I have a disability group 2, cerebral palsy, right-sided hemiparesis. We are an ordinary family who lived in the small mining town of Ukrainsk in the Donetsk region until 2022. But with the onset of the war, I had to leave my hometown, taking only a child who was 5 months old and the most necessary things. And then our world turned upside down. First, we went to Dnepr, everything was fine for a couple of months, volunteers helped with things and food, but then arrivals began in this city and we were forced to leave again.

We went to a village in the Vinnitsa region, applied for assistance here, at first everything was fine, but alas, all payments began to be delayed, they paid late, and we simply began not to live, but to survive. With a disability, they do not want to hire me, since the stereotype in Ukraine is that if you are disabled, you can’t do anything. Now I have a very difficult time. I am very ashamed to ask for help, but I have to, because I want to provide for my child. I want her not to know what war is, she is now 3 years old and she is a wonderful child.

My social benefits from the state are only 6,000 UAH (£109), and that's it. If I had another 8,000 UAH (£109), it would be enough for me for a month. I pay 3,000 (£54.50) UAH for housing + 1,000 UAH (£18) for utilities, so there's 2,000 (£36) UAH left per month to live on.
