Story
Thankyou sooo much for coming on to our JG page, whether its to sign up to one of our events or just make a general donation because you're amazing! It's lovely to see you and to have you as a part of this 3 month fundraiser.
This is the second year of our JAMathon, an idea we came up with over brunch one morning that evolved from one fundraiser, to many! The 'marathon of fundraisers' runs over 3 months, raises for 3 charities and we team up with individuals and businesses to come up with all sorts of fundraising ideas – large and small. If you want to get involved just drop us a message, you will get a lot of shout outs in exchange (if you want them of course).
This fundraiser starts on 20th September (with the launching of this page) and will finish on 20th December. Last year JAMathon2022 raised £2,200 (we walked, went wild water swimming, cleaned a house, hosted a firepit evening, a fashion show and a breakfast, sold stuff on Ebay, sold Queenie cushions, ran a tombola ...), this year we want to better that and get to at least £3,000!
Please let us introduce you to the 3 Northampton based charities that JAMATHON2023 is raising money for, charities that we have got to know and admire over the last few months:
⭐️Right Resolution CIC & their Jeevan Project – this social enterprise supports young people leaving the care system at the age of 16 up until they are 24, helping them through education, training and employment and the process of finding somewhere to live. They help them to be happy. Their Jeevan Project is a new project providing sanitary products to young girls/women. The money we raise for them will go towards their Christmas Appeals for Christmas trees & hampers and to help fund the extras that go in their Jeevan Bags (face masks, candles, toiletries and chocolates). Please head here for more information: www.rightresolutioncic.org
⭐️Growing Together Northampton - GTN is a community-based organisation in a deprived area of Northampton. The team at GTN are dedicated to making their estates good places to live and grow up, where the diverse communities care for each other and their environment. They do this through hosting a number of different activities indoors and out. The money we raise for them will be spent on children's presents for their Christmas Grotto and a coach trip to take families out for the day next summer. Please head here for more information: https://growingtogether.org.uk
⭐️Northampton Community Shed – Sheds (for short) is primarily a woodworking workshop, but now also has an allotment and upholstery/repair facility. Its aim is to give men and women who may be lonely, unemployed, struggling with bereavement or just struggling with the day to day of life somewhere to go - to share their skills, learn new ones and make friends. They are in a small workshop at the moment and can only open on certain days so they are actively looking for a new place to make their home so they can support more people. The money we raise for them will be playing a part in this search and move. Please head here for more information: https://www.northamptoncommunitysheds.org/about-us
