Weʼve raised £2,022 to support Jack during and after he has treatment for a spinal cord tumour at Newcastle RVI plus a donation to RVI & CLIC Sargent.

    Story

Jack is a typical cheeky and cheerful 9yr old. He has recently been diagnosed with a tumour in his spinal cord in the cervical section, which is quite rare/unusual. This is causing many symptoms such as nerve pains and difficulty walking at times but there is unrepairable damage done to his left arm/hand which limits his use of it.

Doctors are not able to operate due to the location of the tumour but they can offer radiotherapy in an attempt to stop the tumour growing Jack has just started this at the Freemans Hospital, Newcastle where he attends each weekday day and the odd Saturday/Sunday for 5-6 weeks. There could be side effects along the way but only time will tell.

We are all optimistic and hopeful for a good outcome for Jack! He is mostly remaining cheerful and loves all of the staff at the RVI.

We are raising funds to help alleviate the extra financial worries that occur as a result of daily travel/parking at the RVI and to give Jack (and his older brother) special treats/days out to help take their mind off things. At the end of the treatment plan, we would like to take the boys on a family holiday in the sun as we have had to cancel the one we had booked. Jack was most upset about this but we have re-assured him we will make it up to him!

Any funds not used on supporting Jack & his little holiday will be donated equally between Newcastle RVI (Children's Oncology Dept) and the CLIC Sargent charity - both of whom have been amazingly supportive at this very stressful time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we are all truly grateful for any support, big or small.

    Much love xxx

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you all so much for all your kind donations. Jack has completed this round of treatment and is generally okay (just a few niggles here and there). He will get another MRI scan in 8-12 weeks so we will have more of an idea on how effective the treatment has been. :-) Your support means we have been able to travel daily without having to worry about fuel costs etc and Jack had an 'end of treatment' weekend away too. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Fingers crossed for the future......... :-) xxx

THANK YOU for all the recent donations!! Just thought I'd let you all know that Jack is past half way with his treatment now and is doing remarkably well! None of the things they thought might happen have happened yet so we are over the moon. We are looking forward to taking Jack on a special holiday at the end of all of this and you have helped make this possible. We aren't sure yet what further treatment will be needed, time will tell. We know this is a long-term battle but with amazing friends and family we can face anything!! xxx

Thank you all for your incredible support / donations / lovely messages....... plus raffle prizes for our afternoon tea fundraiser! We are shocked and humbled by everyone's generosity and it really is going to make such a huge difference going forward as we just don't know what obstacles we are going to face in getting Jack through this. It certainly helps knowing just how much everyone is behind him. Treatment hasn't started yet but I will keep you all posted on here and via Facebook. XX THANK YOU XX <3
