Story
Thanks for coming to our fundraising page.
Here's some questions and answers about the whys and hows
Who is Jack, and why are you raising for him?
Jack is 6 and is an active funny lively little boy with a wicked sense of humour, he's the youngest of 3 and brings such a sense of adventure into the world with his cheeky charm and explorative ways. We love every moment with him, but we don't know how many more moments we might get to share with him.
Jack has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This is a life-limiting condition that gradually gets worse and limits the individual. It progresses slowly at first then the effects increase rapidly. He will never be able to run or clap, like his friends. Every part of his life will be affected by this condition, including his ability to swallow, walk, breathe and move. This will limit the quality of life he can have and it's awful knowing we really are working against the clock. It is likely in two years time his ability to be the fun active little boy we know will lessen and he will need to use his wheelchair more until he is fully wheelchair bound. He will pass away at a young age and we want to make his life the best he could possibly have before we loose him.

How do you know he loves Dinos and Toy story?
He also is autistic, as are a few people in his network. He loves dinosaurs and Toy Story. He watches Jurrasic Park on repeat and being non-verbal one of the only things he can do is roar at the TV, wearing his dino tops, and laughing at the loud noises. Toy story is a close second and he runs to get the teddy of the character on screen and points while lining them up on the sofa. Woody and Jessie are his favourites. (we have a video of him roaring on our facebook page)
This is why we really want to get him and his family network to Disneyworld and Universal Studios Florida, so he can experience it with people he loves whilst also being able to share the caring responsibilities. He understands everything that goes on around him, even if he can’t verbalise, so to see his face when he sees the dinosaurs and see his reaction when he meets Woody would be amazing - and would be both amazing memories for him and his family that will be left behind when his time comes.
We are trying to make this happen for him so he can enjoy a trip to the happiest place on earth and so he can roar the days away whilst he's still able to be active and involved. Without the limits to only wheelchair accessible rides and without the increased difficulty of travelling with all the complex equipment, he will very soon need.

What will the money raised cover?
The money raised is to cover a hotel (suitable for his wheelchair needs) for him and his network to stay in. His park tickets to Disney and Universal Florida, and flights and travel insurance for him and a carer. Anything over our target will go towards a suitable transport for him and his experience. Everyone else travelling will fund themselves. This fundraising is purely for Jack.

Doesn't make a wish do this stuff?
Sadly make a wish no longer do holidays abroad anymore and they haven't done so since lockdown. So to make this happen we are raising the funds ourselves to make the magic happen.

What else have you done to raise money?
2 of the Jack's Roar kids did a sponsored walk on top of the i360. We've had a family fun day, two quizzes, raffles, car washes, bucket collection - even dressed up as dinosaurs. We've had a haircutting marathon and bingo event too! So many people are helping us make this happen!
When are you going?
Jack is going later this year - photos of his experience will be shared on the facebook page so you can all see the magic you made possible.
