Story

I want to share a story that has touched my heart deeply. It’s about a remarkable individual who we all know and love.

Our Jamie.

Jamie Clift dedicated nearly 20 yrs of his life helping others, patients and peers alike. This fallen hero now needs our help. This former Paramedic needs our support and love more than ever.

For nearly 2 decades Jamie worked for the Ambulance Service, qualifying as a Paramedic in 2008, saving lives and providing comfort to those in need.

He not only served our community but also bravely completed a tour of Afghanistan with the TA, facing unimaginable hardship and witnessing the horrors of war.

On his return, this amazing individual played a large part in supporting his fellow peers, tirelessly working in his free time with Uclan and Blue Light Champions making videos promoting the importance of Peer Support & raising awareness of mental health problems within the workplace. Jamie would on many occasions meet with colleagues before & after shifts, to listen, refer and support.

Jamie generously gave so much of his time & experience, passionately believing in the benefits of having a healthy mental health. He set up and ran a club for fellow colleagues to join, The Lean Green Boxing Machine. It was an outlet for some of us to let off steam, to learn new skills and to improve our fitness as well as our mental health. It was a club full of fun, laughter, sweat & tears.

Jamie went on to volunteer with Inspire, a local youth zone in Chorley, teaching skateboarding and boxing to local children.

Throughout it all, Jamie was battling with his own demons, struggling to cope with addictions & the traumas he had endured. He then lost his beloved Mum to cancer and soon after his skateboarding business - his livelihood , together with his pride.

It is now our turn to be there for him.

He is currently staying in supported accommodation for veterans - Healthier Heroes at Bancroft House in Burnley, trying to rebuild his life from scratch. He has taken the courageous step of entering residential rehab and is undergoing various intense therapies to heal his mind. Bancroft House is amazing & able to meet all of Jamie’s needs, but sadly is only available for a limited time.

In his darkest moments he has allowed me to to share his story and raise awareness about his situation. I humbly ask you for your support.

Let us come together as HIS peer support.

Let us extend our hands & lift him up , show him he is not alone, that we believe in his strength & resilience. We CAN make a difference to his life & help build him a brighter future, as he did for so many of YOU!

I kindly request your generosity in donating what ever you can for Jamie’s long term future. Every penny will make a significant impact on his journey towards healing & rebuilding his life. The money may simply be used for a deposit, bond and a months rent for his own accommodation once he leaves Bancroft House. This will give his new start that little extra security.

All money raised will be managed by Jamie’s support team and all of it will be available for Jamie’s use. Once the target amount has been reached any remaining funds will be utilised by Healthier Heroes for other people in similar situations.

Please share this post and spread the word about Jamie’s story. Let us rally around him, offer our love, encouragement and financial support.

Let us be the light that guides him out of the darkness and into a future filled with hope and love.

With gratitude,

Petra.
