Story
In July 2025 I am travelling from Yorkshire to Cambodia with Camps International, where I will volunteer for almost a month, working hard on a number of community projects. It's an expensive but very worthwhile charity trip and I am determined to raise as much money as possible towards the cost.
Cambodia has some serious infrastructure gaps: water, sanitation, roads and solid waste management are among the services in serious need of improvement. There are also issues with access to health, education and other public services. The projects I will take part in are designed to make a significant impact on the region’s most critical issues, including:
* Building wells to provide drinking water and water for irrigation to ensure a reliable source of essential food.
* Building toilets to provide better sanitation for the community.
* Working on school improvement projects, including building or renovating schools to create inspirational and stimulating learning environments.
* Building chicken coops to enable families to raise chickens to supplement their food and to provide a source of income.
* Taking part in reforestation work.
* Constructing village clay water pots to maximise water collection.
