Story
Joe is an inspiration to so many people, he was born with no working kidneys and over his lifetime has endured in excess of 200 operations to save his life.
At this time he is unable to work due to very serious complications that are threatening his life daily. Joe needs to be at hospital near daily for dialysis and this week alone he has had 6 major operation to save his life. He never complains about a single thing but instead he uses his lifetime of experience to comfort and share his knowledge about renal failure with others, using his time to explain exactly how different procedures affect the patient and what they can expect in recovery.
He believes nothing but good should come from his life and the knowledge he has gained should be used to help as many people as possible. He spends time with as many student Doctors and nurses as he can answering questions and letting them practice any and all procedures on him so that they are better skilled when it comes to helping others.
Joe spent his childhood in and out of Great Ormond Street Hospital always making a point of befriending others reassuring and supporting the other children and adults who find it difficult to come to terms with their illnesses.
Anyone and everyone who meets Joe, instantly falls in love with his incredible overwhelming positivity and selfless loving caring manner.
Up until a year ago Joe was in receipt of Disability Living Allowance and carers allowance but the recent changes have exclude him from the new Personal Independence Payment scheme even though he has amputations and is hospitalised most of his waking life.
At the hospital he is adored by everyone in renal care nurses doctors & Patients alike, never complaining and always watching for the next person to bring a little light to their life. It seems unfair that a young man who cares so much about others should be cut off from any financial support from official government sources.
