Story
On Wednesday 7th December 2016 my 8 year old son Seán was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.
Having been taken to the GP by his mother Sarah the day before the diagnosis for a routine appointment, to receiving the first dose of chemotherapy two days later, our lives were turned upside down with no warning and in the worst possible way.
Sean has been admitted to Ward E39 at Nottingham QMC. The ward has 15 beds, with 15 very poorly children and 15 sets of parents and siblings, whose whole concept of normality has been turned upside down. Initially I thought that this would be the most awful place to be in the world. However, the strength of these children and their families is awe inspiring and 1 week in, I know that my little boy will have the strength and support to beat this.
The parents stay 24/7 and the support that we receive is second to none, which means that we can spend 100% of our time focusing on our little ones.
The support and facilities available do not just appear by magic and they require money. Simple day to day items do not just appear, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread, toys, kettle, microwaves, washing machines, tables large enough to have family meals, schooling, emotional support, books to help you explain to siblings etc etc etc - the list is endless.
Many people have asked what they can do to help and the answer is very simple, donate all you can to this ward so that they can continue to support families through the most difficult journey that they will ever have to walk.
Please donate to help those who do not yet know that they will be in the same position as we were. If you have already donated to Seáns mothers page, please also donate to this one too, all the money will be going to the same worthy cause.

7 years agoThank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has donated, all the well wishers, cards, gifts and prayers. We had a bit of a tough day today where a high temperature has effectively wiped out the little chance we had of a few hours out on Christmas Day. Seán is being a brilliant patient, doing everything the nurses ask and making everyone in the ward smile. He wants to say Happy Christmas to everyone!

Hi John, just wanted to say thank you for being such an amazing father. I've been in Seáns position and having a loving mum really helped me keep going in those painful times. I'm glad Seán has you. 🙏
