Story
Our dear friend John Birkett, ex field gunner was sadly diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis (neurological spinal paralysis) in May 2014. Transverse myelitis interrupts the messages that the spinal cord nerves send throughout the body. This can cause pain, muscle weakness, paralysis, sensory problems, or bladder and bowel dysfunction.
Over the past two years John's condition has deteriorated and he is now 100% wheelchair bound. We are trying to help raise some money towards a £17,000 specialised power-assisted wheelchair so this very social and outgoing man can lead a normal life as possible.
