    Story

I am participating in the TOFTigers Bike4Tiger Challenge from the 25th November in Central India. I am challenging myself to ride 180 kms over 3 days between two well-known tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh, on forest tracks and trails through tiger habitat and bordering village farmlands, to support TOFTigers Village Wildlife Guardians scheme.
Sums raised will help protect these vital corridor and buffer landscapes from tiger poachers, illegal logging and the bushmeat trade. Please help ensure another trained pair of eyes and ears, with a smartphone and a camera trap, to help patrol their own villages, farmlands and vital forests. I am back having survived ‘the cycling’, just – nearly 200kms in 3 days, largely off-road on tracks through the forest/jungle/countryside, some of which had been semi-washed away by this year’s monsoon !! Saw tigers on four separate occasions, fortunately not when cycling but when we were on ‘game drives’ in a jeep at the beginning and end of the trip. Thanks again for your generous support.

Today I completed my last big training run before the 'event' !! 25 miles or 40 kms in new money in just under 3 hours. I was pretty pleased and don't feel too knackered. One little, I hope, setback to report. Apparently some of the tracks that on our route on 'day 2' have been effectively washed away by this year's monsoon and may be impassable by bike. Presumably we will have to manhandle the bikes over this part of the track (i.e. a portage) - hopefully the tigers will not be too upset by our antics !!??
