I've raised £2000 to Support Marie Curee

So...
I never thought I would say this. I am running the London Marathon. Yes, it was on my bucket list, but never one I was going to go out the way to do! And in my sixty's. So having spent the last 5 or 6 years in the Crossfit world I thought I might , just might have the strength and stamina to complete it.
But spurred on by the magnificent fund raising my team at Spar Western Downs have done over the last couple of years. Raising in excess of nearly £4000 for the both Castlefields School and Marie Curee, I thought it was my turn to follow there example. When Lucozade Suntory offered me the opportunity it had to be done.
So I am on my journey and with 2 months to go I am through the 20k mark and building in readiness.
So why Marie Curee you may ask? Well as the adage goes, 1 in every 2 of us will face the dreadful Big C, and having already lost several members of my family to this dreaded disease it only felt right to support the bodies who look after us in these challenging times. As a proud Spar Retailer who work closely with Marie Curee it felt right and appropriate.

The last piece I would ask of you all is to give that little bit extra because when I set out on this challenge, I never expected to loose one of my loyal, hardworking team members to this disease. Tim Forde had worked at our store over many years originally opening under the then owners back in 1990. Sadly Tim lost his life in a matter of several months. So I will be making this donation to Marie Curee in a joint name of both my Store and Staff but also of Tim.
If you want to track my progress I will start to share it on the store facebook page as well as my own.
So its taken some time but finally it looks like the money is making its way to MC.
£2630 from the JustGiving Page and further £500 form store activities.
Thank you all for supporting me on this challenge and helping this worthwhile cause. Your support made this so much easier......
