Story
William loves water, the sensory experience of being in water is one of his biggest pleasures in life. It has amazing benefits for his cardiovascular system, bones and muscles and we worked hard to provide him with that experience as often as possible by building him a hydrotherapy pool in the garden.
William was born 3 months early then got swine flu when he was 2 months old. This left him with quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, chronic lung disease, developmental delay and severe visual impairment. He is a wheelchair user and due to not weight bearing has low bone density. The pool gives him the chance to exercise and feel free to move. He literally lights up in the water and shouts out with pure joy.
Since his tracheostomy last year, its become harder for us to safely let him use his pool. The safest way is to keep him in his hoist while he swims. He can still kick, wiggle and splash while the risk of water getting into his tracheostomy is reduced by being in the sling. Sadly that means his current hoist only allows him access to a tiny area of the pool as it's only a single length of ceiling track.
A H track cealing hoist would grant him access to the whole pool, allow him to self propel around the pool and access the bubble areas again. It would open up his water world for him and mean so much to us.
We need to raise £3500 to make the changes to his hydrotherapy pool room to make this happen and we would be very grateful for your help with this.
