Hi I'm Kari and I am 11 years old.

On the 4th of August my Di (Grandad) was admitted to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary having difficulty walking. A week later he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and moved to the Intensive Care Unit. He has been very unwell since then and has a tracheostomy tube in and is on a ventilator to help him breathe. He can only move his head, the right side of his face and his shoulders. Everywhere else is totally paralysed. My Di is usually very fit its a bit scary knowing he is so unwell just now.

Unfortunately because he is so unwell just now only my Gran, my Mum and my Uncle Fraser are allowed in to see him. The nurses let me in to see him before he had all the machines and tubes put in but because I'm only 11 I'm not allowed in now. I miss him.

While I am waiting to see him I thought I would raise some money to say thank you to the brilliant staff in ICU who have been looking after him. They are also being very kind to my Gran and making sure she is ok too.

Everyone does sponsored silences or sponsored walks so I decided to do something different. Every year in Edinburgh people jump into the river Forth on New Years Day to celebrate the new year. Its called the Loony Dook. They raise lots of money for charities and I thought it would be fun to do that. I asked my mum to book us a space and hope to raise lots and lots of money by getting cold and being silly. My mum is also doing it with me, she isn't sure it will be fun, she thinks we will catch a cold. We will get dressed up but I'm not sure what as yet.

Please please please help me beat my target and raise lots of money for ICU in Dumfries. Please share my page too.
