KAY'S STORY

After hearing the devastating news that one of my grandchildren has got cancer, I have been looking for something to do in order to give something back & help Alyssa out - who by now, you all know about. As such, I have decided that I would like to host a Two-way charity crowdfunding page, with a hair event also.

A lot of fundraising efforts go towards the bigger hospitals, like the Royal Marsden, & rightly so as Alyssa has been so well looked after there...this often means that the local hopsitals are overlooked. I would like to donate a half of whatever money is raised to St Peter's Hospital Chidren's ward - primarily Little Oaks, the oncology unit & Ash ward where Alyssa has spent a fair amount of time.

The second recipient is Alyssa herself. Alyssa has been incredible throughout this ordeal, missing out on holidays, parties, days out, nursery & more...even still she has remained amazingly upbeat. I think that Alyssa deserves a super special treat at the end of treatment.

Lastly, I will be getting my hair cut and donating the "plait" to The Little Princess Trust (http://www.littleprincesses.org.uk/). Alyssa hasn't cared at all that she has lost her hair, so we didn't make a big deal of it...it will & is growing back beautifully, but we know that some children are more concerned about this more obvious side effect, so the Little Princess Trust will take the hair & put it towards making a wig for these children. Depending on how much we are able to raise, we will send them a little something too, to help with the costs of making the wig too.
