Weʼve raised £10 to fund the best recliner raiser chair for my niece Kayleigh's progressive needs with Juvenile Huntington's Disease and ease muscular pain.

Story
Kayleigh is 24 and has different needs for her incurable and progressive condition; Juvenile Huntington's Disease.
Due to magnificent generosity and support received from fab people attending/supporting a recent event for Kayleigh, for a customised recliner raiser chair. (These chairs are not available within the public funding remit). We raised £1422.70. Yay! 😊
However, due to Kayleigh's progressing needs, the ideal chair to suit her unique needs comes in at £3040.00. Oh! 😯
So, from thinking we had smashed the target (by gaging online prices), we found ourselves in a shortfall of £1617.00. 😳 No!
So...we considered downgrading to a less costly alternative. However, when Kayleigh was measured (this particular model is made to her body) it was obvious that the chair held and supported her posture beautifully. This will greatly help in alleviating and preventing muscular pain.
It also comes on wheels for ease of manoeuvring and in Kayleigh's chosen colour; purple!! As silly as that sounds, this makes the difference from transforming a piece of clinical looking equipment into Kayleigh's own personal piece of furniture. And Kayleigh loved it.
It was evident we could not cut corners, this very chair was going to help Kayleigh and her caring needs.
And that folks is where we are now. Trying to raise that extra £1617.00 to buy Kayles the best chair for her needs. We are not giving up!

7 years agoHi Helen. Thank you so much for your donation, I didn't realise this had gone public! We are looking at alternative routes for funding (there is a charity that helps with grants for equipment, so the Occupational Therapist is putting together some info so that I can make an application). Your £10 won't be taken but thank you so much for your kind support. Hats off to you and your son, you have my total respect xx
