    Story

Pearl is a 10 year old girl fighting a BIG battle against cancer. She is one of the 30 or fewer children in the UK each year diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Her situation is more cruelly random given that this cancer normally affects teenage boys.

Pearl is a beautiful, bright little girl with huge courage. Since diagnosis she has tried to maintain her sense of humour, renaming her tumours "Vumps" and using her Nerf Gun to defend herself against anyone who threatens her with something she doesn't like (don't mention cannulas)!

Pearl was diagnosed in November and It turned her and her family's life upside down. Within a week Pearl changed from being an energetic girl with a love of aerial dance into a wheelchair user. At diagnosis a tumour had already grown into the size of a melon inside her small frame squashing many of her vital organs. Tumours then quickly spread to her legs, her pelvis and her lower vertebrae, making it too painful for her to walk.

She is undergoing the most aggressive form of chemotherapy it is possible to endure and trying with all of her might to manage all of the distressing side effects, including opportunistic infections that strike and threaten her health still further.

However, there is still a chance that Pearl can be cured long term and this is what she is fighting for every single day and we want to help in every way we can with your help.

Her parents Rachel and Jamie have made a vow to be with her "every step of the way" and have stayed true to their word. They have given up work to be with her and look after Pearl's brother Milo aged 8. The family virtually live and move between the various specialist hospitals involved in her care. She takes heart from their presence and it gives her the strength to carry on.

Will you join with us to help them keep their vow to continue to stay with Pearl?

WOW! Special thanks to the brave marathon/mud run/mini mile fundraisers - you are all so amazing! Radiotherapy starts at the beginning of May in addition to chemotherapy. Having both at the same time will be very tough and extremely tiring for Pearl, and means that we will be away from home a lot more. Pearl has been staggered at the efforts and generosity shown by everyone and I regularly read her your lovely messages of support. You help us every day to keep together and to keep strong. Thank you so much, Rachel BB (Pearl's mum)
