Who and what is SPACE

Space is an organisation that works with local people, local government and the NHS plugging the gaps and providing ‘local on the ground’ support for a wide range of people.

Our aim is simple and has been at the core of what we do for a long time: to make the lives of those we work with better.

We have evolved to support children, families & older people make informed decisions. choose their own support and see the positive strength of community & family. We recognise when people are in need and help them find new and practical ways to get the most out of life. To make this a reality we provide a range of services which work across a wide spectrum of personal experience and need.

In the past year we have helped those in financial difficulty by accessing over £40,000 worth of grants. We help parents support children with learning needs and emotional/behavioral issues by providing practical support in the home through the placement of Family Support Workers. Our Family Programmes help to empower parents and help them deal with the challenges they face.

It is not just families we provide vital support to. Through the provision of our Comfort Zone group we have helped to combat social isolation among the older generation in the South Down region.
Our Mourne Home 2 Hospital Scheme enables the over 60s to attend their hospital appointments by utilising our volunteer driver service.

We provide volunteering opportunities to members of the community in a variety of roles including, retail, family support, transport services and furniture up cycling.

We never give up on finding the right service for each individual we work with. If we don’t have a service currently to meet their needs, we develop one and that's why we need to continuously search for funds and ask for your support to help us do more .
