Remembering Kelso Cochrane: A Legacy of Unity and Justice (Help Us Raise £3800!)
Imagine a North Kensington where Kelso Cochrane's memory isn't just a whisper, but a beacon of hope.
This May 17th marks the 65th anniversary of Kelso's tragic murder, a hate crime that shook our community. But his story isn't one of just pain. Kelso was a young man full of life, a symbol of the vibrant Windrush generation that helped shape our city.
We, the Kelso Cochrane Legacy Project, led by Kelso's family, are raising £3800 to honour Kelso and spark a conversation about race, justice, and community. Here's what your support will create:
1. A permanent plaque: We'll install a plaque at Kelso's final address, a lasting tribute that ignites curiosity and reminds everyone of his fight for equality. .
2. A commemorative booklet:** This high-quality publication will be Kelso's story in your hands. We'll distribute it online and in print, ensuring his legacy reaches far and wide.
3. A powerful community celebration: Join us for an inspiring event where we will celebrate Kelso's life, explore themes of migration and justice, and build bridges within North Kensington.
4. A live radio show: Tune in to Portobello Radio on May 17th for "Remembering Kelso Cochrane: 65 Years On." Hear Kelso's family, activists, and community leaders share their stories.
5. This isn't just about Kelso. This is about us.** By supporting this project, you're investing in:
~ Education: Educating future generations about Kelso's story and the fight for racial justice.
~ Community Cohesion: Bringing people together through shared history and a commitment to a more just future.
~ Amplifying Kelso's Legacy: Ensuring Kelso's name continues to inspire the fight for equality.
With your help, we can make Kelso's memory even more of a force for good. Donate today and be part of something bigger than ourselves.
Every contribution, big or small, gets us closer to our goal. Let's make this a commemoration Kelso would be proud of.
