Story
The Kimberley jam is a free music festival in the town of Kimberley in Nottinghamshire that aims to provide a great day to anyone who loves live music, while providing support to local good causes.
We are supporting two causes this year.
2nd Kimberley Scout Group is based at Kettlebrook Lodge, Eastwood Road, Kimberley and has various sections, covering all different age groups. They run Beavers (age 6-8) and Cubs (8-10.5) sessions on Wednesdays and Scouts (10.5-14) on Thursdays. They also host Beauvale District's Explorers (14-18), Scout Network (18-25) and Duke of Edinburgh groups.
They teach life skills such as cookery and first aid along with traditional Scouting skills such as camping, orienteering and knots.
They are ran by a team of volunteers and urgently need more people to help them!
Contact ros.broker@beauvalescouts.org.uk if you would like to help them in their mission to inspire and mould young people into confident and enthusiastic human beings!
Blind Eye provide outreach assistance to people living rough in the centre of Nottingham. They don’t judge the people they meet, they simply offer them a hot drink, porridge, snacks and clothing and if they have a dog we offer dog food.
They understand that the reasons for living rough are complex, as are the long term solutions and that giving a homeless person some food is not going to solve all their problems, but they chooses to leave the debate about the causes of homelessness to others and simply show some humanity and help people with the problems they have now.
They hope that the simple act of kindness of giving some food or a blanket to someone might be a small step towards turning around somebody's life, or at the very least it will help them overcome hunger or cold.
