Story
In June 2015, my cousin's son, Leo was diagnosed with Leukemia in the aged just two years old.
Leo is constantly in and out of hospital and as a result of having no immune system to fight off infections, he can go from bouncing and bright to fighting for his life in a matter of hours. THeir lives have literally been turned upside down.
Having felt the impact that a cancer diagnosis can have on the whole family Leo's Mum, Michelle is now in the early stages of opening the charity "Leo's superhero fund".
As part of the treatment that children like Leo receive, they are given steroids which, among other side effects, makes them incredibly hungry and wanting to eat huge amounts of food at any time of the day or night.
Michelle's vision is that families like hers will receive help towards the costs of their grocery shopping from Leo's Superhero charity. They will receive funding on an annual basis to assist with the increase costs of catering for a child with cancer. This is just one step towards relieving some of the strain that families in this situation encounter. which aims to support families with children with cancer.
Anyone can be affected by cancer, it's easy to assume "it will never happen to me", but in reality it CAN and it does. Leo's Superhero fund won't cure cancer, but it may make the difference to a family battling this horrendous illness.
These children are truly wonderful and light up the room. They battle for their lives every day with the biggest smiles you have seen and they and their families are truly inspirational. Please give what you can and help make a difference.
