Story
For the last two months Ava Jayson has been fighting for her life .Aged just seventeen months, she was struck down by myocarditis, an extremely serious viral infection which inflames the heart muscle.
Rushed into intensive care, she was placed in an induced coma, and her other organs too began to fail. With Ava's heart failing, her parents Krystina and Luke watched as doctors connected her to machines which pumped blood around her body. They were told Ava was only hours from death.
But their little angel fought and miraculously came back from the brink. After endless weeks in hospital, she has very slowly - begun to recover. She is now awake, and her heart is gradually beginning to heal.
However, there is a very long and fraught road ahead . While in the induced coma Ava sadly suffered a stroke, which has further complicated and lengthened the recovery process. She will need months of rehabilitation, while her body regains strength.
Ever since Ava was admitted to hospital on 14th September, Luke and Krystina have barely strayed an inch from her bedside. They have both had to give up their jobs, as Ava's condition has required the specialist skills and equipment of a specialist London hospital many miles from their home in Stevenage. This has required them to spend their modest savings on nearby accommodation. What limited spare time they do have, is devoted to their other child - Ava's twin brother, Austin.
Their future is uncertain, save the knowledge that they will be spending many more months away from home, with Ava, in hospital. Their financial position is now perilous.
Krystina is an incredibly generous person and regularly fundraises for charities, including Bliss and The British Heart Foundation.
Now it is time to do something for her and Luke, which is why we are now appealing to your generosity and goodwill, to help fund their basic family living costs during Ava's journey back to health.

8 years agoAva continues to go to weekly rehab sessions and has also started water therapy in a swimming pool which she is enjoying and doing really well in. She was fitted with piedro orthopaedic shoes which has opened up a new world of support and balance for her but they don't come cheap at £200 a pair! She continues thriving with her strong determination and this week has started trying to stand unaided, thanks to her intense therapy, which unfortunately is not available on the NHS, and costs £350 a term. But she's coming on in leaps and bounds!

8 years agoAva has been making steady improvements and miraculously been allowed home. But sadly she still has a long road to recovery. Due to the stroke she will need intense weekly physio, which is not available on the NHS, she will need regular trips to the Brompton for tests and echos, as well as round the clock care she's currently receiving at home. Krystina is unable to return to work and is devoting all her time to care for Ava. Please continue to donate as much as you can to help ease the financial worry during Ava long recovery.
