Leah was diagnosed with hodgkin''s lymphoma on September 2nd, 2015 at the age of 25. Leah was of the unfortunate few who did not respond to treatment, to be exact she was in the 4-6% percentile that did not. After surgery, chemotherapy sessions and numerous treatments amazingly she was given the all clear on September 2nd, 2016, exactly one year later.

I had the fortune of meeting Leah after working at a summer camp August 2016. After hearing about cancer patients and thinking how my dad was when he had cancer, I was expecting to see someone sad, maybe even depressed. For it to happen to someone so young I expected the worst in terms of how she would look and feel. But I was in for a shock.

I think the photo header sums it up more than my words even can. When I met Leah she had so much life, happiness and positivity. I couldn't believe that someone under her circumstances could act in such a way but there she was. Leah hadn't received the all clear when I first arrived, yet here she was, a happy, confident and positive person. I was so impressed by her it made me really think about everything I take for granted and the fortune of having a clean bill of health.

It's this reason that I want to help Leah anyway I can. So I have an event planned for next year in February (date to be confirmed). For 24 hours I'm going to sit on a spin bike and pedal, only to get off when I need to use the bathroom.

I want to raise anything to help Leah be able to complete something on her bucket list or multiple things. So that when she is able to travel in a years time, she has an adventure waiting for her.
