Story

David Goggins Challenge- Run 4 mile every 4 hours for 48 hours (4x4x48)

Hello everyone,

For those that don’t know me, my name is Lewis Black and I am the club’s physiotherapist at Dunston UTS Football Club. Working at a semi-professional level can sometimes bring challenging financial difficulties at times, which is something I would like to address and make a difference towards.

People who are lucky enough to know him will understand he needs no introducing, but those who don’t, Liam Thear (Scrappy) unfortunately has suffered an ACL Rupture whilst playing the sport he loves for Dunston. The results were found following an MRI scan, which alone cost the club a few hundred pounds. Additionally, the severity of this injury is quite significant as the player is then sidelined for roughly 9-12 months after the date of operation. Anybody who is involved in football will understand how hard this can be and everyone can appreciate the side effects this can have on a person. As the club’s physiotherapist it is my role to provide the best possible service and rehabilitation for Liam and the rest of my players.

My aim is to raise funds for the club so they are able to pay for future private scans, instead of players being on the NHS waiting lists. Funds will also be put towards buying new rehabilitation equipment. Unfortunately, players are at a loss of earnings whilst being injured so any additional funds raised would allow the club to create a pot of money which can help cover players wages.

Any donations big or small will be greatly appreciated from myself and the club. Most importantly you are making a difference to a person’s life and recovery 💙

I will commence the Goggins challenge on Thursday 1st February and conclude the 4x4x48 following the Dunston vs Ashington game on Saturday 2nd February.

King Regards,

Lewis Black
