Story

Hi,

My name is Lexie, and I am 15 years old.

My mum got diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer in April 2023 6 months after my Auntie got diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. My Auntie told us about a chemo bag what was given to her from her hospital which had items in that she may need for comfort during her treatment, she said it was really helpful and heart-warming that the hospital was able to donate these necessities to cancer patients, so I have decided to start making our own bags to help cancer patients at Lister hospital and mount vernon hospital as they don’t get these bags.

In September 2024 my mum diagnosed with stage 4 secondary cancer so my aim is to do more for the cancer centre as she will be going there for longer now.

The bag would include.

Tote bag, 1 pair of bed socks, hand sanitiser, mints, bag of boiled sweets, a soft toothbrush, a pen, a puzzle book, a notebook, aloe vera gel, sensitive toothpaste, lip balm, squash, tissues, 2x herbal tea, mouthwash (has to be alcohol free), moisturiser and hand cream.

I am hoping that local people will help with donations for me to do these bags as the hospitals have agreed that I can give them out to patients.
