Weʼve raised £1,185 to help fund private medical investigations in to little Alicia's medical problem (no answers in 18 months from NHS). Enough is enough!

Funded on Thursday, 20th October 2016

    Story

Alicia has undergone her 5th Iron Infusion today at King's College Hospital (20/09/2016). Despite numerous doctors visits, check ups, clinics, scans, blood tests, procedures, Blood Transfusions the NHS hasn't got any answers as to what is causing her problems over the last 18 months.

    Enough is enough!

We are trying to raise £1,000 to fund private medical attention/investigation, to get answers, to get a diagnosis, to understand and to get any treatment underway.

In her 30 months of life she's gone through enough.

Little Alicia's eye are puffy, she's tired all the time, grumpy because she's tired but wants to be a typical 2 year old. Her siblings are suffering - being up earlier for school to be child-minded and taken to school so Alicia can be taken to appointments. Canula's are normally successful 2nd time around which stresses her out even more. But have Been known to take up to around 5 attempts to get a cannula in.

Her parents are suffering because of the lack of answers, dealing with the unknown, trying to manage 2 able children and judging jobs as normally as they can.

The NHS staff have been good but the Consultants have been less so. But as time's going on, her condition is getting worse and they still have no idea what's causing it (let alone understand how to treat it).

Private consultation can help speed up the process but this comes at a cost. Whilst private consultations is being sought, a typical scan is £180+. It's probably not going to be just one scan, one blood test etc and the bills will accrue, hence the target set.

Updates will be given with news as it becomes available.

Please help us to get a diagnosis and start any treatment as soon as possible. We can't go another 18 months with Alicia suffering.

    Thanks,

Donna - on behalf of Zoe and Ross Hunter - Alicia's parents xxx

Thank you very much for all the donations coming in. A special thank you to Michael Dee of Angler's Charity Auctions and Mark Slade for offering the prize. Mark put up an auction: a trip for 4 anglers to go carp fishing, ferry transport and 20kg of bait, etc. The auction was won for a massive £1,150 and all funds donated to Alicia's quest. Whatever funds are needed after this, #TheRoseAppeal will fund. Amazing!! Thank you so much for your generosity. This little girl will soon have answers (eating rice paper!). Thanks, Donna x

13/10/16 - Alicia had a blood transfusion after the 2nd canula attempt. She appeared brighter - more colour in cheeks. Still no answers. Camera capsule (gastroscopy) is due next week on 18th October, to check the middle of her intestines. Images will be collected and perhaps even spot what's going on :( Ross, Alicia's dad, the day after Alicia's 6th iron transfusion, he was admitted to hospital with an infection in the fluid around the heart which he is currently battling. Heart muscle and ECG fine though - thank goodness! Thanks, Donna x

05/10/16 - Alicia's 6th iron infusion... 4th attempt with the canula (by a nurse on her break who knows how difficult Alicia is to cannulate) was successful. After infusion, haematology conferred with the gastro dept. Her haemoglobin levels are LOWER than when she started treatment and needs a blood transfusion ASAP. They think she has a bleed in the gut somewhere :( Her veins need to heal more before they can investigate. An endoscopy is being brought forward (date TBC). Please keep Alicia in your thoughts. Thanks, Donna x
