Love From George was started by Ben and Martha, who lost their baby son George during pregnancy in August 2022. They were looked after with kindness and compassion in the Bereavement Suite at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. They were fortunate to have family close by who were able to support by bringing comforting items and basic necessities into hospital. However, this may not be the case for everyone. From this, George’s wellbeing boxes were created in his legacy.

Families who are sadly using the Bereavement Suite on the labour ward are offered the Wellbeing Box. They contain a range of items including both women’s and men’s toiletries, comforting items such as cosy blankets, as well as grief support and items that families can share with their precious baby. Some hand-knitted items for baby have also kindly been donated.

These boxes also connect bereaved families to the baby loss support coffee mornings, which are run every 4-6 weeks in Telford. Here, a community of lovely families who have heartbreakingly been on similar journeys, are ready with open arms to provide emotional comfort and support. Knowing you aren’t alone in this journey makes such a big difference.

Ben and Martha’s aim is to provide this practical and emotional support for as long as possible, but can only do this with the support from the community. Each wellbeing box costs around £50 to stock.

Ben and Martha work closely with the Bereavement Midwives and provide additional support to families who may need a listening ear. Ben also shares George’s story and helps with bereavement training to the midwives and doctors at the hospital on a regular basis.
