Sciacca has been hit by a devastating 100 year storm. The damage has been extensive and the mess is everywhere.
If you have been to Lucchese you will know that it is a place of amazing peace and beauty. It has also been our pleasure to share this piece of paradise with our friends, family and the wider world.
The flood waters have destroyed our bridge making it impossible to get in and out of the land, the river has burst it's banks felling trees on the lower section. We have suffered a number of landslides and the road has some major damage. In the small section where the two streams converge we now have a 200sqm hole in the ground.
Now we need to clean up and build for a better future. Climate change will make these freak events more frequent so we'll be using every trick in the book to protect for the future. But for now we need to clean, clear and rebuild the bridge. Any support you can offer would be the most amazing show of support for us and for Lucchese. All generosity will be gratefully received and rewarded with olive oil, free nights next season and Gary's amazing cooking!
