Story
The Luke Somerfield Memorial Trust is a charity which has been formed to honour the memory of Luke, who died tragically at Cilyrchen Quarry on June 6th 2012. He was 14 years old and a pupil at Ysgol Tre-Gib near Llandeilo.
Luke's parents were David and Kim Somerfield and Luke was their only child. Although they are both devastated by what happened, they are determined that something positive should come out of this and to that end have formed this charity.
The Trust has as its specific objectives the advancement in life of young people up to the age of 18, living in Carmarthenshire by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of physical, educational and other activities as a means of:
◾Advancing in life and helping young people by developing their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.
◾Advancing education.
◾Relieving unemployment.
◾Providing recreational and leisure time activity in the interests of social welfare for people up to the age of 18 living in the area of benefit.
