Story
MAMA has been advocating and providing outreach support in Runga consisting of antenatal care & drugs, HIV & Syphilis screening & treatment, immunisation clinic & health promotion awareness & contraception. As well as frequent relations with local traditional birth attendant Justine, every 8 weeks.
With the idea & determination/passion from MAMA's Ugandan midwives, we are now building a permanent building to house a Clinic and delivery room where a midwife on weekly rota's will facilitate antenatal care, birth & postnatal care for the Runga village, including the testing & treatment of HIV & Syphilis & contraceptive care. This will advocate the early detection of the poorly expectant & postnatal mother as well as reduce delays in labour referrals, decreasing maternal morbidity & mortality rates within the area thus subsequently improving morbidity & mortality rates for the neonate. We need help in fundraising the set up of the clinic.
Here is a list of items we need to start up the clinic & the costs if you would like to specifically donate an item;
8 boxes of Sharps Bins = £4.00, 100 2ml syringes = £3, 100 10ml syringes = £5.20, 50 Sterile gloves = £10.00, Cotton rolls = £3, Hand washing unit = £17.00, 3 Jerry Cans to collect water = £6, Small & large Buckets = £12.00, Delivery aprons = £2.50, Gum boots = £4.00, Mop = £3.00, 4x Dettol soap = £2.50, Adult scales = £10.00, 200 Lancets + £6.00, 3x Episiotomy scissors = £8.50, 2x Needle holders = £9.50, Oxygen cylinder = £6.00, 2x Examination bed = £3.00, 2x chairs = £2.00, Desk = £5.00, Benches £2.00, Torch = £2.00
